Last time we brought some of the best playing card game that are widely recognized. This time we continue to introduce some playing card games that are suitable for multiple people to play together.
1.GOPS
2 players – A simple and fast calling/bluffing game suitable for two players. Diamonds are point playing cards corresponding to their value and are displayed one at a time in random order. Players each get a full suit as their hand (clubs or spades) and play a card of their choice, and the point card displayed will go to the higher card played. GOPS is short for “Pure Strategy Game” because there is zero luck.
2.Knock Out Whist
2-7 players – Also known as “Knock Out Whist”. This is a simplified version of Whist. It is also one of the best playing card game. The object is to avoid being eliminated after each hand by winning at least one trick. The first hand has 7 tricks, and since each subsequent hand has 1 less trick, it becomes more difficult to stay in the game. This is a perfect game to introduce people to skills.
3. Mao
2-7 players – This game has been particularly popular with the college and university crowd since the 1960s, where the goal is not just to win, but to have fun. Essentially, it’s a “Crazy Eights” variant with special additions, but the rules may not be discussed; new players should try to figure out the rules by observing the game and through trial and error. In theory, it has shades of Mornington Crescent, Fizzpin’, and Calvin Bower, but Mao is actually a playable game.
4. Palace
2-6 players – Also known as “Sh**head”, “Karma”, or “Idiot”. A very relaxing casual game where the goal is to avoid being the last to discard your cards. Each player has a row of three face-down cards, a row of three face-up cards covering those cards, and a hand of three cards. On your turn, you play a card equal to or higher than the card on the discard pile, otherwise you pick up the entire pile.
